Meet Kelly

I've been fascinated with words for as long as I can remember. I honed my skills and earned my bachelor's in journalism at the University of Georgia. After a year waiting tables and hiking the Appalachian Trail, I settled into a career working in the magazine industry in Atlanta. Later, I branched out as a freelance writer. Now, I work full time as a communications manager at the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health. 

I've written hundreds of lifestyle articles over the years for a range of magazines and websites including: Southern Living, Darling, Redbook, Paste, Atlanta magazine, 10Best.com, Georgia Travel Guide, The Atlantan, Jezebel, South, Flavors, Simply Buckhead and several others. While I have written about a variety of subjects, my favorite articles tend to revolve around food, people, and travel. I have been lucky enough to talk to people like Dominique Wilkins, Ed Roland, Alton Brown, Stephen King, Cat Cora, and numerous other dynamic, creative people who aren't as famous (yet). 

I continue to freelance and am the managing editor of Flavors magazine. I also provide copywriting, SEO, web content, and editing services to various clients. 

I write fiction on the side and am an active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, the Southern Foodways Alliance, and 12x12.
